DESCRIPTION :
Garuda-VTOL configuration is an efficient, electric powered, unmanned aerial intelligence gathering system for use in Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance, Target tracking & acquisition, Battle Damage Assessment, Search & Rescue, Port & Coastal Patrol, Digital Mapping, Remote sensing, law- enforcement etc. It can be flown by anyone with minimal training due to its simple point-and-click navigation and camera control systems. Garuda- VTOL is aerodynamically well-designed to maximize its performance and maintain good stability while in the air. One of its highlights is that it can take-off vertically, hover at a fixed coordinate in the sky for observation and then land vertically thereby providing unprecedented versatility. UAV SYSTEM / SUB-SYSTEMS CONFIGURATION:
UAV system: Is complete in all aspects of electronics, sensors, propulsion system, on-board camera, control mechanism, trans-receivers, re- chargeable batteries and packing case etc.
Ground Control Station: Comprises of All-in-one Fully rugged portable Ground station consisting of all hardware and software to launch, navigate, trans receive data, and land the bird back at ground along with accessories like batteries and chargers for the for the base station and packing cases for all the sub-assemblies.
Physical Characteristics:
The complete system is sturdy but light weight, has a reasonably small form factor and is man portable by operating crew themselves
Rapid deployment by operating crew itself (2 persons), without requiring additional assistance.
System has sufficient safety features for the operators, payload and for the UAV itself.
Sound of the propulsion is not heard beyond the distance of approx. 200m AGL overhead at cruise speed.
It will sustain minor adverse weather conditions like light wind, low humidity etc and recover safety.
The system is packed in ruggedized safe container which is easy to carry and offers protection from mechanical shock, water, heat etc.
Operational Characteristics:
Capability to Vertically Take Off and Land (VTOL) without needing any kind of runway.
Has an auto pilot on board with mission pre-programming capability in GCS to undertake autonomous operations.
There is an easy duplex wireless communication between UAV and GCS for direct control from a Radio Control box or from a Computerized Base Station, and for reporting back essential flight parameters. Comd integrated or independent Analog/ Digital Data/Video Link provided. A high resolution, stabilised, clear and continuous video provided. Range of data/video link will be at least 3 Km radius.
The data trans-received between the UAV and the base station will be direct without any requirement of any interim ground repeater station.
All its on-board systems are powered from mil-grade rechargeable battery pack of desired endurance.
It has autonomous return home mode i.e. provision to return to base station in case of a communication loss, low battery or other critical conditions affecting flight safety/control.
UAV will be able to transmit stable, real time, continuous video and still images from payload to ground control station within its radius of operation.
Technical Characteristics:
Payload/gimbal. A coloured video camera for day with resolution of 700 TVL or better and optical zoom of 20 x zoom will be provided which will be capable of shooting in daylight. Camera should not be permanently fixed to UAV. Night Camera will be IR/thermal based having minimum resolution of 320X240 pixels or better with black/ white hot imagery .Both the payloads will be hot-swappable. Also both the payloads will be gimbal stabilised on-board.
Power Supply. The system will work on Indian standard AC mains 220 V, 50 Hz single-phase power supply and should function within the voltage variation from 180 V to 240 V.
Sensors. Besides the on-board camera, UAV will have additional on-board sensors to report essential navigational and status parameters.
Temperature Range. The system will be able to function at a temperature range from 0° to +40° centigrade or better.
Battery Life. Life of On Board UAV batteries will not be less than 1 yr. Chargers are part of the package.
Record, Playback and Analysis. GCS has provision for simultaneous recording of real time payload imagery for the entire flight duration in the standard formats for subsequent analysis/viewing. GCS also has provision to playback, analyse or annotate/process the recorded video/imagery files. Complete framework, including hardware and software required will be part of the package of the base station.
Operation and Maintenance.
Ease of Operation and Maintenance. The complete system will be easy and simple to operate. Normal maintenance effort involved will be of routine nature and feasible by the operator at unit level itself. The UAV system will be modular in nature for easy packing/portability and transportation.
Ruggedness. The system will be sturdy and robust which will be capable of withstanding day-to-day handling and usage by operators under normal operational conditions.
